More About The Man
He's a crazy mixture and what that has done is just added to his looks and his charm. His real father is Japanese and he also has Irish, Welsh and French Canadian blood in him. He even has his name Tanaka, which was his real surname, tattooed on his ankle in Japanese. This mixture of different races has worked for Dean as it has made him not just great looking but also able to portray a whole gamut of emotions onscreen. Anyone who can play Clark Kent/Superman successfully in a four year TV series proves this point. Let's face it, when Clark Kent removes his spectacles and jacket and becomes the super hero, he also is a completely different personality. Dean gets into both roles so effortlessly. Overall, one could call him a thinking actor.
Well, if wealth is a measure of his success, the fact that he has his own homes at various locations like Aspen, Malibu, Ibiza and Colorado speaks well for it.
For all his preoccupation with acting, he still has time for his first love, sports. He is one of the few sportsmen who excels in any sport he plays. Even though his heart was set on football, he played a lot of other games as well, even captaining the volleyball team at Princeton. In recent years, he has been part of a celebrity softball game as well as taken part in a golf tournament with Greg Norman in Australia.
There's a very soft side to him and he takes part in a lot of charitable activities as well. The Aspen Grassroots Experience is one such charity that he is very involved with. He's a great father and his son Christopher holds a dear place in his heart. In fact, after he was born, Dean has become more involved in charities than ever. He was also a part of the HatcH audiovisual festival in Bozeman a few years ago – this is a festival that seeks to inspire the future generation of creative thinkers. Dean Cain was the guest of honor for this event.
For all his ‘superman' status, one thing he is terribly afraid of is flying. Now that seems odd for someone who played the Man of Steel for so many years but come to think of it, it just makes him that much more human and vulnerable and therefore much easier to relate to.
